New facilities to facilitate walking and cycling
This autumn, the Communauté de communes de Serre-Ponçon (Serre-Ponçon community of communes) continued its efforts to promote soft mobility by developing two areas.
Old Baratier road
Between the Mûre traffic circle and the underpass under the main road, a number of improvements have been made:
- Creation of a wide strip dedicated to pedestrians
- Installation of speed bumps to ease traffic flow
- Road markings for bicycles
The junction with the Route des Vachères has also been redesigned to make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
This work reinforces the continuity of the path between Baratier and Embrun, via the old Baratier road, the underpass, the footbridge over the Durance and the pedestrian/bicycle paths along the D994.

Thegreenway linking Embrun to the Boscodon footbridge via the dike and Chanterenne has been extended to the Eaux Douces beach. A total of 900m of safe pathway has been created.
The CCSP is now studying the possibility of continuing the route as far as Savines-le-Lac, in order to eventually offer a continuous soft route along the lake.
